Tuesday October 28th, 2008 Wild Mountain

Date & Location: Tuesday October 28th, 2008 Wild Mountain

Snow & Weather: 40 degrees man-made and not too shabby

Vertical feet & runs: 2,110 feet 10 runs

Season Total: 2,110 feet 10 runs

Comments: Who knew the first riding entry would be before Jack's party. Thanks Wild Mountain! Rode with my two hard core riders, Glen and Vlad. Yes you saw the date correctly, we are riding in October. It was my first time riding in October and also the first time at Wild Mountain. We were a little apprehensive on the drive up but we were pleasantly surprised. It was a decent first run they had open. Great feeling to have the beginning of the season burn in the arches of the feet. All went well except CJ took me out on the first lift exit of the day and Glen punched me in the face exiting the lift later in the evening. Green Bay Dave came with and watched in prep for his first outing coming up in November. He still has a little more off hill training before he is ready. I asked him if watching made him scared and he said "no". And like Yoda I said "you will be, you will be."

CJ: October riding conditions in MN were pretty sweet! My riding was better than I thought it would be.

Glen: October CHECK. Shakey, good, shakey, sweet, beer. Damn! October riding rips but I needed a Sparks!

Saturday November 22nd, 2008 Afton Alps

Date & Location: Saturday November 22nd, 2008 Afton Alps
Snow & Weather: 35 degrees man-made and a little icy
Vertical feet & runs: 2,240 feet 8 runs
Season Total: 4,350 feet 18runs

Comments: Rode with GBD, Nate & Skier Sean. It was GBD's first time out. He did amazing on day one but why wouldn't he, look who his hot instructor was. Seriously, he did awesome. He was linking turns by the end of the day, I was impressed. I did see him do both a downhill toe-side whack face plant. He also, on his last run of the day, did a heel-side downhill smack and hurt his butthole. Thank you helmet. See the pic.

GBD: Pretty sure I cracked my tail bone, twisted my elbow, jammed my wrist, bruised my kneecaps and suffered a concussion. But I can't wait to go again!! ps-Matt was a great instructor.

Saturday November 29th, 2008 Mystic Miner Ski Resort @ Deer Mountain

Date & Location: Saturday November 29th, 2008 Mystic Miner Ski Resort @ Deer Mtn

Snow & Weather: 27 degrees dumping snow 2-4 inches forecast

Vertical feet & runs: 5,690 feet 9 runs

Season Total: 10,040 feet 27 runs

Comments: GBD, Glen and Terra are at Welch and I am at Mystic Miner. Randy took me up to the mountain today. 7,000 feet altitude, long runs and me out of shape but it was a blast. They had 4 feet of snow about a month ago but didn't open until yesterday plus it was dumping snow and had about 2-3 inches of fresh while I was there, so I found plenty of POW on the sides and in some trees. My feet swelled at altitude and hurt in my boots but I didn't quit. My favorite run was Whitetail to Stag to Racers bottom to Back 40 to the Gap to the Face and back home, of course this run was under the lift. I rode the chair one time with Randy. Thanks again Randy as it was fun.

Tuesday December 2nd, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Tuesday December 2nd, 2008 Welch Village
Snow & Weather: 36 degrees nice man-made snow
Vertical feet & runs: 2,590 feet 8 runs
Season Total: 12,990 feet 36 runs
Comments: Rode with GBD and gave him his second lesson. It was my first day at Welch for the season. GBD did great. I corrected some of his bad habits and then he was riding awesome! Had to fight off some St Olaf schoosh bags and protect Dave. Did you ever hear of the little boy who cried wolf? Me too! Well anyways today there was actually a wolf. A possible urgent care visit may be in store for Dave. I will let "the little boy" aka GBD elaborate if he so chooses. Here are some quotes of conversation we heard at Dan's in New Trier: "winch it with a D-9 and pull dat sum of bitch up the hill." "it takes god damn big balls to mow dat cock sucker."
GBD: Went with Matt to Afton more than a week ago. Then he left town and I rode with Glen, Terra and CJ over 3 consecutive days at Welch. Tonight was my test with Matt. I think I passed but getting off East Side quad chair, I fell and I think I popped my shoulder out of socket. It popped back so I forgot about it until I fell on Harley's and tried to push up and it really hurt. So I'll see how the evening goes. Beyond that my virgin tour at Welch at night was a BLAST! Ps- Matt is an excellent instructor.

Wednesday December 3rd, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Wednesday December 3rd, 2008 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 21 degrees chilly crisp snow and 3" new

Vertical feet & runs: 4,660 feet 14 runs

Season Total: 17,650 feet 50 runs

Comments: Rode with Glen & Sean. Nate, Josh, and Tony's Theme were here but didn't get a chance to ride with them. 14 run runs with Welch all to ourselves. 3" new snow overnight so we had some nice fluff. Feeling Ok but a little out of shape. *

Roley: Weekdays Rule!

Glen: Had a blast! Snowboarding is better than work.

* GBD update. He broke his shoulder and is out for the season. :(

Saturday December 6th, 2008 Lutsen

Date & Location: Saturday December 6th, 2008 Lutsen
Snow & Weather: 11 degrees windy as hell and very cold with hard snow
Vertical feet & runs: 7,040 feet 12 runs
Season Total: 24,690 feet 62 runs
Comments: Rode with Vicki, Glen, Terra, CJ, and Roley. It was crazy windy and cold! I got 2 patches of frost bite on my pretty face. We took a 2 hour break and I won a shot, a beer and $13 from CJ playing pong. Then Sean and I went out for some more torture. GBD came along as our cook since he popped his cooter bone at Welch on Tuesday and is out for 3 months. I love these guys.
Terra: After a 9 hour drive to Lutsen (stops included) we are here and rode in the coldy cold today! Best part of the trip... Glen and I won $204 in pull tabs! Worst part...the iceballs on Bridge Run. Tonight will rock and tomorrow will be another day of (hopefully warmer) riding.
CJ: Super cold super windy super bad service at Papa Charlies super bad ping pong by me.
GBD: Since I have a fractured shoulder, I am the cook on this trip. I love these f*ckin snowboarders even tho it's stupid cold and I'm not really too melancholy. And Terra makes awesome as I am nacho cups.
Roley: BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! = Drinking tonight will ruin tomorrow.
Vicki: BRRRRRRRRRRRR is all I have to say. I think I have frostbite thighs and ass. Riding felt good today for first day out but just couldn't last long in the tundra. "we may party like rock stars but we are NOT animals" quote of the trip so far courtesy of Matt.
Glen: We had a hootenany today. My bindings crapped themselves, SWEET! Now I'm the designated boozer!
GBD: OMG we've playing Apples to Apples and it's sooooooo subjective! But very fun playing with TMN: Terra Mia Nuonn and Vicki bitch keeps winning.

Snow & Weather: 7 degrees cold hard snow and icy
Vertical feet & runs: 2,200 feet 3 runs
Season Total: 26,890 feet 65 runs
Comments: Rode with my hard cores CJ, Terra, Vicki. Typical hung over sucky Sunday Lutsen riding.
Terra: We had to check out Moose Mountain but we only lasted 3 runs. Cold as sh**...
CJ: It was cold today...but not as cold as yesterday.
Vicki: At least we can say we made it to Moose Mountain...

Tuesday December 9th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Tuesday December 9th, 2008 Welch Village
Snow & Weather: 15 degrees 4" of new fluffy snow
Vertical feet & runs: 6,190 feet 19 runs
Season Total: 33,080 feet 84 runs
Comments: Rode with Roley, Greg, Brent, and skier Sean. Pretty much had the place to ourselves with 4" of fresh. Lots of fun ripping the fluffy sides and had a lot of fun opening up on Harley's. I wish Miss Nuonn was with us!
Roley: You totally wish you were here.

18.10.08

Wednesday December 10th, 2008 Welch Village

Date & Location: Wednesday December 10th, 2008 Welch Village
Snow & Weather: 13 degrees and super cord
Vertical feet & runs: 3,670 feet 11 runs
Season Total: 36,750 feet 95 runs
Comments: Rode with Roley, Nate, Josh and Tony's Theme. We had great courdoroy from yesterday's fresh. I took my first bone cruncher this season attempting to ride switch on Harley's. Roley taught me to do nose rolls, Thanks Sean! But I wish you would have warned me about the popping of the cooter bone.
Roley: Yes, you must stretch the cooter bone before doing nose rolls. Nicest corduroy ever at Welch. No ice anywhere.
Nate: I am the great under-turner that's it that's all.

Tuesday January 6th, 2009 Welch Village

Date & Location: Tuesday January 6th, 2009 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 25 degrees Nice Cord!

Vertical feet & runs: 4,690 feet 15 runs

Season Total: 41,440 feet 110 runs

Comments: Sorry Welch for almost a month lay off. I was in AZ for 2 weeks then it was holidays. I will be better now. Matter of fact my New Year's resolution is to snowboard more. Rode my new Custom for the first time and it is a sweet ride and I love it! It has a lot of spunk and pop! The cord was really nice and fresh and carvable. Rode with Sean and we did some nice turns to get back into the swing of it after our long lay off. Last run of day, I crashed pretty good on Dan's. My cooter bone (aka hip flexor) is still tender from the last time out almost a month ago. I am guessing it will be sore for the rest of the season. We are coming back for AC/DC on Thursday aka Back in Black Bowl.
Roley: Long break, hard groomers, mad skills.

PS: Check out the pic of the bald eagle we saw in New Trier on the way home. And yes it is a real eagle. It was very cool! Sean and I actually passed it then turned around to get a pic of it. As I was taking pic it started to flap it's wings and take off.

16.10.08

Thursday January 8th, 2009 Welch Village

Date & Location: Thursday January 8th, 2009 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 14 degrees cold firm cord

Vertical feet & runs: 6,110 feet 20 runs

Season Total: 47,550 feet 130 runs

Comments: Rode with Sean, Nate, and Tony's Theme. It was cold out but cord was nice. First day at AC/DC (Back in Black Bowl) was really fun. I was impressed with the layout and the super fabulous Bentley chair. Nice steep runs! Fun! Fun! Fun! Tony's Theme first layer attire consists of control top hose.

Roley: New turf, pissed all over it! Forgot my control top panty hose. F***ed up my back and ducked out early. :( It's about time I got a Bentley. They forgot to install cup holders!! I heart Chuck Taylor socks!

Nate: The back side is pretty nice. I now have the coolest socks says Matt Woo Hoo! And Tony wears sanitary hose then woolies.

15.10.08

Friday January 9th, 2009 Welch Village

Date & Location: Friday January 9th, 2009 Welch Village

Snow & Weather: 14 degrees 1" new fluffy on top of nice cord

Vertical feet & runs: 4,620 feet 14 runs

Season Total: 52,170 feet 144 runs

Comments: Rode with Tony E. that I met through outboard.org. He was a better rider than he said. We had a good day at Welch until Tony hurt his knee. It was kind of our faults as we were about to take Dike run and on the lift we were making fun of all the flannel, mullets, and tool belts on the run. Apparently the Dike did not like that and smacked Tony in the knee.

Tony E: Great day and an abrupt end- Damn dikes or maybe it was the second beer. I'm sure after some ice and advil it will be fine in the morning and I got to talk to the cute bartender one more time. Maiden foray onto black runs was a success! It's the green runs and the packs of little old ladies that trip me up.
